Josef Koudelka. Retrospective

Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO)

Curaduría: Josef Koudelka
December 2003

I know who I am. I don’t do what I do in order to make somebody like me, or to prove something to someone, or to be the best. I do it for myself, for my own satisfaction. I want to find my limits, to see how far I can go. Josef Koudelka

This retrospective gathered over 300 black and white photographs that cover Koudelka’s creative stages, from his early formal abstraction of the late 50’s, to the stunning landscapes in which he has worked on in the last few years. Observing this transformation was one of the basic elements of the exhibit which chronologically extended throughout six core themes: Beginnings, Theatre, Gypsies, Invasion, Exiles and Chaos.
