Claustro de Sor Juana

1995

After studying art history and specializing in design, I did my community service in 1995 at the Claustro de Sor Juana in Mexico City with José Luis Barrios (JLB). My first exhibition was for Claudia Nierman. I had no idea that this discipline would lead me to where I am today. We had no budget and another challenge was to face a historical building whose walls could not be touched. And that’s where the hanging began. Kraft paper screens hung from the ceiling at different angles began to play with the space. From the wooden beams, I faced my first surprise after hanging everything with nylon thread: the next day the thread had given way and new surprises appeared, giving way to a series of views where, together with the artist, we began to play with the perspective of the works and how we relate to them.
