Cinema and Revolution

Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso
Ciudad de México, México

Curaduría: Pablo Ortíz Monasterio and Álvaro Vázquez Mantecón

May 2011

The exhibit Cinema and Revolution arises as a revision of the image of the Mexican Revolution, from the first shots taken by the pioneers to the classical sequences produced by the industrial cinema. The review of ideas and images will lead the spectator to a reflection on the Mexican vision of the XX century and, thus, towards the understanding of the country’s contemporary identity.

The Project was awarded the Miguel Covarrubias National Prize by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia for the best exhibition design in 2011.
